When a K-8 student continues to be truant after the School Attendance Review Team (SART) has exhausted all means of intervention, the case is referred to the District's School Attendance Review Board (SARB).

At this point, the student is considered to be a habitual truant as defined in Education Code 48263. The SARB may recommend that a Student Intervention Plan be put in place or citation be issued to the parent.

The SARB includes District personnel and community agencies that work together in an attempt to solve the truancy behavior problems manifested by referred students. The main focus of SARB is to provide support and direction to parents and students that will enable them to comply with school attendance rules and expectations.
